There are boat load of WordPress Plugins are out there. There is a wordpress plugin for posts, sidebar, comments, images, twitter, pages, google, links, images, and the list goes on and on and on. With all these options, definitely makes my or anyone else’s head spin.

I mean really… out of those plugins which ones do I really need that will help me and not drag my blog’s performance. Meaning, it won’t take for EVER to load up. You see blogs are like cars. The more stuff I load (more than normal) in my car the more heavy it will get. As a result of being heavy, it won’t run as fast.

I know a lot about my blog (http:///www.MarkKumar.com ) being heavy. Because I have loaded all the wordpress plugins you can possibly think. At one time I did a test to find out how long did it take to load up my blog with all of the plugins installed. I was bored and I had nothing to do. So why not…lol

I found out that it took me “2 MINUTES” to load up my blog and I was using “T3″ connection (this is the fastest internet connection out there). I don’t know about you but if I am checking out someone’s blog and it’s going to take more than 3 to 5 seconds. I am clicking off from it.

So, I decided to uninstall some of the plugins to increase the load time of my blog. I found that I only need 8 wordpress plugins. These bad boys will keep my blog “SEO” friendly. So, that other people can find my blog on search engines like “Google, Yahoo, Bing and so on”. And still offer plenty of social media options for people to use if they want to use my blog post to post it on their “Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Linkedin and so on”

They say content is king, so the plan is to post one blog post every week for my various websites, except for the ones that are tight niches. I have come up with a plan that will ensure that every post gets indexed quickly as well as give it a couple of back links so that it has a chance to rank high on Google.

This is what I have decided, for every post that I write, I will bookmark it on some social networks, for fast indexing and for some back links. I will do this for the 10 major ones, or at least do it for places that have a page rank.

After some social bookmarking, I will find at least five blog posts that are related to it and post some comments. The plan is to post some useful comments, so that at least they approve them, and hopefully I might even get some traffic which would be ultra great.

One strategy that I have heard that it works is to do some linking within the blog itself. For every post, the plan is to try to link to at least two other posts within the blog, using the keyword that I am trying to rank for, and I think after a while I will have a good linking structure within the blog which hopefully Google will reward me for.

This backlinking strategy is standard for all posts. Those posts that get ranked well and just need an extra boost in back links to get great positions in page 1 of Google, I will do something extra. This is when I will use some web2.0 properties websites and channel some links from there. Other times, I might even spend 5 dollars on Fiverr to get some extra links that will be pointing to the posts that show real promise, because I know that if they can get top positions, the return will be great also.

One thing that I have learned when it comes to back linking is that it has to be done on a consistent basis, and it never stops. Even when  you finally have the honor of being number one, you still have to build links and add more content.
